How to link BVN to Access bank account in simple steps

How to link BVN to Access bank account – Account compromise has been on the increase in recent time, the conventional security systems are no longer enough to protect one’s bank account from unauthorized access.

Following this, the need to improve security of customers bank account becomes increasingly necessary, in view of this, the Central of Nigeria in alliance with the Nigerian banks introduced the biometric identification system (BVN) in 2014.

With the BVN, each customer now has a unique identity that can be verified and identified across Nigeria’s banking industry. To this end, it has been addressing the issue of theft by reducing the frequency of fraud in Nigerian banks.

Why should I link BVN to my account?

  • To checkmate against fraud/and unauthorized access into your bank account
  • To check mate against Money Laundering and Terrorism financing
  • To eliminate a double standard of identity

However, if you adamantly refused to link a valid BVN to your bank account, you will be restricted from performing all transactions except cash deposit.

How to enroll for a BVN

Before you can think of getting a BVN linked to your account you should have one in place, per adventure you do not have a BVN yet, follow the below steps to get enrolled.

  • Walk into any Zenith bank branch in your location
  • Enquire to enroll for a BVN
  • You will be required to complete a BVN enrollment form, ensure to provide necessary details required in the appropriate columns.
  • You are required to come with a valid ID card (voter card, driver’s license, National ID card or international passport)
  • Having completed the process, your enrolment process will commence thereafter you will receive a ticket ID
  • Your 11-digit BVN will be sent to your registered phone number within 48 hours or you check back for it if otherwise.
  • Additionally, you may dial *565*0# from your registered line to retrieve your BVN.

Note: While completing the BVN enrollment form always ensure to capture your name correctly, as seen on your valid ID card and as contained in your bank accounts that may have been existing with other banks.

The date of birth you are expected to capture on the enrollment form should be exact with that on your valid ID card and account opening package at the time such account is being opened.

How to link BVN to Access bank account

Already have a BVN, link to your bank account in any of the below arrangements

Step one: Via SMS

Kindly text “BVN,” your “account number” and “BVN number” to 20121.

E.g, BVN 0658856786 22457896543 to 20121

You should receive acknowledge response to this effect.

Step two: Through internet banking

  • Kindly log in to your internet banking platform with your user ID and password
  • Go to the service request menu
  • Select the “initiate service request”
  •  Select “Link BVN” to get your BVN linked to your bank account.

How to link my Phone number to my Access bank account

There could be an instance where you misplace your phone or wish to change the very phone number associated with your Access bank account.

You will need to visit the bank, complete a customer information update form instructing the bank to change the phone number linked to your bank account.

How to check BVN online

You can check your BVN by dialing *565*0# from your registered phone number on the BVN portal applicable to MTN, Glo, Airtel and 9mobile network.
